This image was captured in the late morning of the 5th May 2017 as the Queen Victoria was entering the Thorn Channel off Calshot Spit, Southampton. It is unusual for a cruise ship to leave Southampton at this time of day, their normal departure time being late afternoon/early evening. Subsequent searches of the Internet reveal that she was on her way to Italy for a major refit, returning to service in early June 2017. The image was captured from the deck of the Red Funnel Ferry, Red Osprey as she was returning to Southampton from Cowes, Isle of Wight.
